After a hurricane is when we tend to reflect on how we could be better prepared for the next one. We have been getting calls for generator installs, especially since hurricane season is not yet over (it runs through November). Before you run out and get a generator, make sure you purchase the proper size and capacity for your home.
A 30 amp generator will run basic appliances, but if you want to run a whole house A/C unit and a well pump, this could change to a 50 amp/240 volt generator. Wherever you chose to buy your generator, let them know what appliances will be running, and if it includes a well pump. There is an assumption that if you have generator it will run everything, but it won’t if you don’t have the right size.
